Your Automation Roadmap

Consolidating What You've Built

Over the past 20 days, you've covered the full stack of AI automation: from understanding what's worth automating, through building and connecting workflows, to deploying and operating them in production. Now it's time to consolidate and plan what comes next. Take stock of what you've built. You should have: at least 3-5 working workflows in production (lead capture, email classification, data reporting, at least one AI-powered workflow), a solid understanding of n8n's capabilities and limits, familiarity with the Claude API and how to prompt it for reliable structured output, and experience with error handling, monitoring, and data storage. More importantly, you now have a methodology. You can look at any business process and systematically evaluate: is it automatable? What's the trigger? What data transformation is needed? What actions should it take? What could go wrong? How will you monitor it? The gap between knowing how to automate and actually automating your business is execution. Most founders build a few automations, get excited, then return to manual work because daily urgencies crowd out the strategic work of building the automation stack. The way to overcome this: schedule a 2-hour 'automation sprint' every week. Same time, same day, non-negotiable. In these sprints, you build one new workflow or improve one existing one. Over a year, that's 50 automations โ€” enough to transform how your business operates.

Your 90-Day Automation Roadmap

A concrete 90-day roadmap for technical founders: Days 1-30 (Foundation): Automate the top 5 manual tasks from your original audit. Focus on workflows that save the most time. Get your error monitoring and alerting in place. Establish your automation stack (n8n + Supabase + Slack). Days 31-60 (Customer-Facing): Add AI to your customer communication workflows. Build email triage and smart routing. Automate your CRM data entry and enrichment. Set up automated weekly reporting for your team. These workflows directly improve customer experience and free up your team. Days 61-90 (Product Integration): Connect your automation stack to your actual product. Automate onboarding sequences triggered by in-product events. Build retention workflows that respond to usage patterns. Create operational alerts when product metrics deviate from baseline. By day 90, the goal is: no manual data entry, no manual report compilation, and your top 10 most time-consuming repetitive tasks fully or partially automated. Conservative estimate: 5-8 hours saved per week for a solo founder, 15-20 hours saved per week for a 5-person team. The compound effect is what matters most. Each automation you build frees time for strategic work. Better strategic decisions grow the business. A bigger business justifies better automation. The founders who systematically automate the operational layer of their business have an enormous advantage over those who don't.

โšก Today's Action

Write your personal 90-day automation roadmap. List the specific workflows you'll build in each month, estimate the weekly time savings each will create, and block 2 hours every week in your calendar labeled 'Automation Sprint'. Share the roadmap with your team.

๐Ÿ’ก Pro Tip

The most powerful automation habit: end every week by writing down the most annoying or time-consuming thing you did manually that week. Schedule 30 minutes next week to automate it. One automation per week compounds into 50 per year.
